Towers Watson Network Roundtable: The Pathway to Health and Productivity

A growing epidemic of workplace stress and unhealthy lifestyles is driving direct medical cost increases for Canadian employers. There are also significant “hidden costs” associated with these trends, including the costs of workplace absence, presenteeism, overtime and replacement workers.

As employers seek new ways to improve their labour costs and productivity, many organizations are closely examining their investments in employee health and workplace effectiveness. For some, even “best practices” do not seem to be producing the desired results. How can employers close the gap between program design and measurable outcomes?

Research shows that there is a strong link between effective health and productivity strategies, and human capital and financial results. Beginning more than a decade ago, Towers Watson’s landmark Staying@Work survey has focused on identifying the health and productivity practices that differentiate high-performing organizations. In this session, we’ll share new findings from the 2011 - 2012 study and highlight Canadian examples where real-world practices are producing tangible results.

In addition, we’ll look at:

• Canadian health care cost trends and what’s ahead for the next decade
• The role of behavioural economics, and the place for health rewards and incentives
• Towers Watson’s health and productivity effectiveness benchmarks — and how you can compare your organization’s health and productivity against those of your peers

Please join us for this timely and interactive discussion on workplace health and productivity, and its impact on your organization’s bottom line.
