Strong HR functions are focused and accountable, and produce measurable results. They not only create and oversee the processes and programmes that attract, motivate and retain employees, but also predict and respond to workforce trends to ensure that the business maximises growth potential.

This year we covered emerging themes including the increasing role of big data, analytics and HR technology. We also focused on sustainability and innovation of people programmes.

Key takeaways

  • Attraction and retention challenges for key talent will continue across Asia Pacific. Those that will succeed will need to target their employee value propositions (EVPs) to specific employee segments, as if they were consumers. Lastly, never before has the delivery of HR programmes been as important. The role of HR will continue to evolve in how they organise themselves, how they deliver programmes and in how they lead change.
  • The engagement partnership is evolving into a new approach. Employers must have a better understanding of their employees, measurement engagement including other factors affecting it and drive organisational initiatives. On the other hand, employees must understand what drives their own engagement, measure their engagement on these drivers and make individual level change.
  • To become an evidence-driven HR function you must know your business priorities, use as many data sources as possible, move away from pure metrics reporting, your analysis should be linked to business challenges and provide insights with implications on business outcomes.
